The Maestro Gerhardt Zimmermann Memorial fund is complete and we can not thank you enough for the generosity you all have shown! The Legacy Wall is in the works and we will be providing updates on its completion as they come along.
Donations of $2,500 or more may still be added to the Legacy Wall following its conclusion.
We are also thrilled to announce that the GZ Fund will be sponsoring MasterWorks IV: All Things Majestic for the 2024-2025 season.
The Canton Symphony Orchestra has been generously gifted $100,000 from the estate of William P. Blair, III, who passed away suddenly on February 2nd, 2023. This gift has been designated for use as a matching goal for the Maestro Gerhardt Zimmermann Memorial campaign, with the match ending on June 30th, 2024. See here for more information regarding Mr. Blair.
For the match, every dollar raised since September 19, 2023 will be counted.
We will use the proceeds from this concert to establish and kick-start the Maestro Gerhardt Zimmermann Endowment Fund, which will be used to support the MasterWorks series. Dividends received from this fund will sponsor a MasterWorks concert every season in perpetuity under Gerhardt’s name. The conclusion of the campaign will unveil a “Legacy Wall” within the lobby of the Zimmermann Symphony Center, which will feature portraits of and excerpts regarding prominent figures throughout the CSO’s history, all of which will surround Gerhardt. To begin contributing to this campaign, please click the link below. All donors will be recognized on the wall.

The current 2023-2024 season is the final set of concerts programmed entirely by Gerhardt. We will honor him with the music he chose and have a moment of silence for him before every concert. Contributions to the Maestro Gerhardt Zimmermann Endowment Fund will be collected all season-long, the progress of which we will share with the public in real-time above. This page will be updated periodically with testimonials, a timeline of his life and career, photos, videos, campaign progress, and more.
Additional donations are encouraged and will be used to kickstart the Gerhardt Zimmermann Memorial Campaign. All gifts will be recognized on the Legacy Wall being constructed at its conclusion.

This concert was entirely dedicated to Gerhardt’s legacy. We performed his favorite pieces and have them conducted by friends and colleagues who are able to join us. It featured the full orchestra and images from his life were projected on stage. Part of this celebration included testimonials from all who shared with us during this difficult time.
