What started as a pandemic related distraction from boredom for these siblings, COMPASS has become a tight band of melodic, heart-pulling, guitar driven indie rock music.
The band brings together Arianna, 18, the lead singer and bassist, Harrison, 16, the guitarist, and John, 13, the drummer. Their style, musicianship, musical and lyrical themes belie their ages.
Influenced by classic musical acts like Fleetwood Mac, as well as contemporary artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Maggie Rodgers, Lizzie McAlpine, and John Mayer, their melodies and lyrics, written primarily by Arianna, speak to relationships, youth, loss, and hope for the future. The band collaborates on music.
Their first performance was in May 2021 at a school sponsored talent show, where they took the unusual risk of performing their first two original songs. Once the joy of that performance and the standing ovation they received receded, the band got to work honing their musicianship and writing more songs. What followed would become their self-produced 5 song EP, Stay A While, released May 2024 with mastering by Justin Colletti from Joe Lambert Mastering In New York.
