Gospel Joins Symphony is a partnership between the CSO and EN-RICH-MENT of Stark County. We welcome Dr. Henry Panion, III, multi-award-winning and internationally renowned conductor, composer, arranger, and producer. Dr. Panion will jointly conduct this concert with CSO music director designate, Matthew Jenkins Jaroszewicz.

Gospel Joins Symphony will welcome several area church choirs to join the full orchestra, and soloists will be needed. This concert will occur four days before a holiday celebrated on June 19 to commemorate the emancipation of enslaved people in the US.

Producer, composer, arranger, orchestrator, conductor, and educator, Dr. Panion’s wealth of experiences spans the musical spectrum, from Gospel to Classical, Pop to Rock, Country to R&B, Hip-Hop to Be-Bop and everything in between, from the likes of superstars Stevie Wonder, Lionel Richie, Aretha Franklin and Chaka Khan; jazz luminaries Ellis Marsalis, Jonathan Butler and the Lionel Hampton Orchestra; Gospel legends the Winans, Tramaine Hawkins, Yolanda Adams, Kirk Franklin and The Clark Sisters; Country artists Randy Owen, LeAnn Rimes, Sara Evans and ALABAMA;  R&B Songstresses Kelly Price and India Arie; American Idol winners Carrie Underwood, Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard; Hip-Hop artists Coolio and Nelly; and more than 50 different symphony orchestras all across the globe, from the Tokyo (Japan) Philharmonic, Royal (London) Philharmonic, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) Philharmonic, and Gothenburg (Sweden) Symphony, to the Atlanta Symphony, Nashville Symphony, Cleveland Orchestra, Houston Symphony, New York Philharmonic and the National Symphony Orchestra.

This concert is produced in partnership with one of Stark County’s greatest assets for youth, EN-RICH-MENT. Led by Betty Smith, this organization focuses on providing after school and supportive programming for young people through art and music.

Proceeds from this concert will benefit EN-RICH-MENT.
