Ralena Mae Dahlheimer as Canton Youth Strings conductor


Ralena Mae Dahlheimer has been appointed the new Canton Youth Strings Instructor at the Canton Symphony Orchestra.  Ralena’s new position includes conducting the youngest group of the Canton Youth Symphonies, the Canton Youth Strings.

Ralena M. Dahlheimer is a native of Canton, Ohio and is the daughter of Beverly Klebaum-Bevington and Richard Bevington.  She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education  from the University of Mount Union and her Master of Arts in Education as an Intervention Specialist from Malone University.  She currently serves as the Director of Strings for the Canton City School District teaching at McKinley High School (Downtown and Main Campus), Early College Academy at Souers, College and Career Readiness Academy at Lehman, and Altitude Career Tech and Wellness Academy at Crenshaw.  Ralena is also a Co-Founder of the En-Rich-Ment (Enjoying the RICHness of Music Education Nurturing & Training) program, which gives inner-city children the opportunity to learn any musical instrument at no charge to the family.  Aside from teaching, Ralena is an avid horse activist as she and her husband, Jason, raise and show Quarter Horses and cows on their mini farm.

Ralena joins our Canton Youth Symphonies’ staff along with new Assistant Conductor, Matthew Jaroszewicz.  She will be responsible for the Canton Youth Strings. Canton Youth Strings is our youngest ensemble, consisting of students in the 2nd through 5th grade.  Now three orchestras strong, the CYS program gives young musicians of all ages the opportunity to rehearse and perform in a full orchestra and will perform three concerts during the 2017-18 season.  Students or teachers interested in the program should call Irene Barker, Director of Education and Community Engagement at 330-452-3434 ext. 604.

Founded in 1937, the Canton Symphony Orchestra is celebrating our 80th anniversary and  is a fully professional ensemble and organization dedicated to performing concerts that enrich, educate and entertain residents of Stark County and beyond.
