The Canton Symphony Orchestra announces the following vacancy beginning in the 2017-2018 season

SECTION PERCUSSION, 3RD CHAIR

 (approx. 20 services per season)

along with possible unconducted

Ensemble services (Lecture/Demo, etc.)

 

Auditions will be held October 12, 2017 from 10:30am - 3:30pm in Umstattd Performing Arts Hall, located in McKinley High School, 2323 17th St. NW, Canton, OH.  Preliminary auditions will be held 10:30am – 2:30pm, with the final round beginning immediately after.

Per service rate for the Section Percussion position is $103.99, plus 5% pension contributions (AFM-EPF) for the 2017-2018 season.  Per service rate for the first daily Ensemble service (up to 1 hour period) is $85.00 for the 2017-18 season.  Some services require daytime availability.

Audition repertoire for the positions includes the following solo and excerpts:

MARIMBA SOLO (Musser Model #M245 Rosewood Graduated bars):

Bach             Sonatas and Partitas for Violin (candidate’s choice of any 2 or 4 mallet)

Warm-up instruments will not be available.  Applicants are required to bring tambourine and all sticks and mallets.  All other instruments will be provided; but, at their discretion, applicants may bring snare drum and cymbals.

Please bring your own music to the auditions - no excerpts will be available at the auditions.

Finalists might be asked to sight-read.
