Katherine DeJongh

Biography

Katherine DeJongh enjoys a versatile career as soloist as well as chamber and orchestral musician, having performed throughout the United States, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. She holds the position of Principal Flute with the Canton Symphony Orchestra and the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus, and is on the faculties of the Cleveland Institute of Music and Case Western Reserve University. Ms. DeJongh has appeared as recitalist at the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts in Chicago, the New York Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center, the Cleveland Museum of Art, and the Stan Hywet Hall in Akron, and has performed as concerto soloist in the US and abroad. She has presented masterclasses at the Chopin Academy of Music in Poland, the Cairo Conservatory in Egypt, and the Taegu Conservatory in Korea. Ms. DeJongh’s premiere concerto CD, Twentieth Century Works for Flute and Orchestra (CRC2585) can be heard on Centaur, as well as her most recent release, Duo Concertos for Alto Saxophone, Flute, and Orchestra (CRC3192), and Neo-Ragtime (CRC3161). Other recordings include Concerto No. 1 for flute and orchestra by Krzesimir DÄ™bski, (Koch International), and several CDs as a member of the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra of Columbus. Ms. DeJongh holds a master's degree in music from the Cleveland Institute of Music, a bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois, and a diploma from the Interlochen Arts Academy. Her teachers have included Jeffrey Khaner, Mary Kay Fink, and Tim Day.
